Detailed comparison
Demand Signal
Artist calculators exist because print sizing is confusing even outside Etsy. Etsy seller discussions add marketplace packaging, buyer expectations, and file-size limits to the same problem.
- Creators need max print size from pixels.
- Etsy sellers need to translate max print size into listing claims.
Feature Opportunity
TextFaker can include both directions: pixels to print sizes and desired print size to required pixels. The upload path should remain primary.
- Uploaded file report.
- Manual dimension fallback.
- Required-pixels table for missing targets.
Differentiation
A print studio tool naturally leads toward ordering prints. TextFaker should remain a neutral QA utility for digital downloads, useful even when buyers print at home or with any lab.
- No print-service lock-in.
- No subjective art advice.
- No upload requirement beyond local browser reading.
Testing
The calculator rules can be tested with simple arithmetic and common-size fixtures.
- A4 at 300 PPI expects about 2480 x 3508 pixels.
- 11 x 14 at 300 PPI expects 3300 x 4200 pixels.
- 24 x 36 at 150 PPI expects 3600 x 5400 pixels.
Research notes
- East Side Studio states its maximum print calculator can use uploaded artwork and 300, 240, and 150 DPI presets.
- SnapToSize and other Etsy-oriented sources identify common printable wall-art sizes that should become TextFaker presets.
- A Reddit user with Procreate asks for guidance on file sizes for downloadable art, supporting a creator-focused workflow.
