Etsy Listing Image Checker
Etsy Listing Image Checker helps sellers test product photos before uploading them to a listing, without sending the files to a server.
Drop in one or more images to see exact dimensions, file sizes, format support, orientation notes, crop-zone warnings, and proposed tidy filenames for your listing set.

What the checker validates
The tool should focus on technical listing-photo readiness, not subjective photo quality. Etsy recommends listing photos with width and height of at least 2000 pixels, says the first photo should be at least 635 pixels wide and high, and warns that images over 1 MB may fail to finish uploading on slower connections.
- Report pixel width, height, megapixels, aspect ratio, orientation, MIME type, extension, and file size for each image.
- Mark supported Etsy shop image extensions: .jpg, .gif, .png, .svg, and .heic.
- Warn when a PNG has transparency because Etsy says transparent parts appear black.
- Warn when a GIF appears animated because Etsy says animated GIF files are not supported.
- Flag first-photo candidates that are portrait-oriented, below 2000 pixels on either side, or below 635 pixels on either side.
Thumbnail crop checks
Etsy notes that listing thumbnails may appear as square, portrait, and landscape crops. The checker can make this practical by calculating deterministic center-crop boxes and reporting how much of the original image would remain in each crop.
- Show center crop boxes for 1:1 square, 4:3 landscape, and portrait preview ratios as numeric x, y, width, and height values.
- Return crop-retention percentages for each preview ratio so automated tests can verify the result.
- Warn when an image is extremely tall or wide because more content will be cropped out of common thumbnail frames.
- Avoid judging whether the product is visually centered; only report measurable crop geometry and safe-area margins.
Useful outputs for sellers
The page should help a seller organize a whole listing image set after checking it. Results should be copyable and downloadable so the seller can fix files in another editor or keep a record before uploading.
- Generate proposed filenames such as etsy-listing-01-main.jpg, etsy-listing-02-detail.jpg, and etsy-listing-03-scale.jpg based on upload order and detected extension.
- Provide a summary count of pass, warning, and fail statuses across the selected files.
- Offer a downloadable CSV or JSON report containing filename, proposed filename, width, height, size bytes, format, aspect ratio, orientation, and validation messages.
- Use stable message IDs such as ok_minimum_2000, warn_over_1mb, fail_unsupported_type, warn_transparent_png, and warn_animated_gif.
Privacy and mobile workflow
The tool fits TextFaker's local browser pattern because Etsy sellers often work from phones, tablets, Canva exports, and design apps. It should be usable on a small screen with a large file picker, compact per-image cards, and a sticky summary of issues to fix.
- Process selected files with the File API, image decoding, canvas checks, and local parsing only.
- Do not upload images, listing drafts, filenames, or reports to TextFaker servers.
- Keep the result table readable on mobile by collapsing detailed crop boxes behind per-image rows.
- Support batch checks so a seller can review a complete listing photo set in one pass.
